Standardized fitness test – Discipline specific

We use a standardized fitness test protocol, adapted to the level and discipline of your horse. During the fitness test, we measure heart rate, speed, and lactate values in detail. A few small blood samples are taken from your horse to determine lactate levels (degree of muscle acidity). Based on this data, we calculate specific fitness parameters that provide insight into your horse’s current training status.

In addition to the fitness test, we perform biomechanical measurements, allowing us to see before and after the workload how training affects your horse’s movement. This information is included in the overall fitness test analysis. All measurement equipment during the test is fully provided by us.

Differences by discipline

The exact setup of the fitness test varies by discipline:

  • Eventing, Show jumping and Marathon Driving
We use a sport-specific fitness test tailored to the intensity and workload typical for these disciplines.

  • Dressage
For dressage horses, the focus is more on endurance, strength, and recovery, with a lower workload profile than in jumping or eventing (including lactate measurements).

Veterinarian information:
A veterinarian is only needed for drawing blood for lactate measurements (only for eventing, jumping, and driving disciplines).
