HORSES, like humans, are subject to the same aches, strains, and pains as humans. The connective tissue of their bodies-such as the ligaments and tendons, work to protect muscle and bone from stresses brought on by normal pasture play, riding, and aging. Over time, connective tissue can become impaired, restricting free movement of muscle and bone. These stresses result in patterns of tension that are held in the horses' bodies. To the rider, this shows up as stiffness or lack of flexibility in the horse's shoulders, back, neck, or hips
